LG Corp and NVIDIA signed a strategic memorandum of understanding on 13 August 2026 at NVIDIA’s Santa Clara headquarters, with LG chairman Kwang Mo Koo and NVIDIA founder Jensen Huang attending. The robotics headline in LG’s release is a next-generation bipedal humanoid built on NVIDIA’s Isaac GR00T foundation model, Jetson Thor onboard compute and Halos for Robotics safety stack, with a public unveiling targeted for the first quarter of 2027.
LG frames the machine as a “One LG” build: actuators from LG Electronics, sensors from LG Innotek and batteries from LG Energy Solution, while NVIDIA supplies the reasoning and control software path. Separately in the same announcement — and not the same product — LG says it will put its wheeled CLOiD robot onto an LG Electronics washing-machine line in Tennessee within 2026 for production-floor validation, then refine performance before wider factory, home and commercial rollouts. The partners also describe a robot-data effort on LG CNS’s PhysicalWorks platform and work toward LG’s own robot foundation model alongside GR00T.
LG Electronics is the operating company behind the Robotics Business Center and the CLOiD line; the August MOU is group-led but the bipedal programme sits with that robotics push. Until LG publishes a buyer-facing bipedal nameplate with sourced payload, battery and safety claims, treat the story as a roadmap for that manufacturer rather than a datasheet launch. Named bipedal platforms such as Apptronik’s Apollo or Unitree’s G1 remain useful hardware context — not peers claimed in LG’s release.
An MOU and a Q1 2027 unveil target are not a shipping SKU, list price or measured cycle-time claim. The same press package also sketches AI-factory reference sites (NVIDIA Vera Rubin in the first half of 2027, a larger Cheonan facility later) and a DRIVE Hyperion vehicle-compute track; those are adjacent NVIDIA–LG pillars, not evidence that the bipedal humanoid is already in production.
