Generative Bionics, an Italian deep-tech company based in Genoa, has unveiled Gene.01, which it describes as a fully functional sensorized humanoid platform for industrial work beside people. The company’s pitch centres on a full-body distributed “smart skin” that senses touch, proximity, force and temperature so the robot can react before and during contact — not vision alone. Generative Bionics says Gene.01 was assembled in about six months on a physics-native AI stack that co-designs body, mechanics and motion, and that it is open-sourcing the robot’s digital twin through channels developers already use: PyPI, conda-forge and the official ROS build farm. First industrial colour is a Fincantieri collaboration aimed at shipyard operations; CEO Daniele Pucci frames Gene.01 as a customizable platform rather than a one-size-fits-all humanoid.
