BYD told China Securities Journal it will unveil its first humanoid robot in August at Di Space, its offline experience venues. A Zhengzhou Di Space WeChat teaser pointed to an early-August public showing aimed at interaction rather than a wall of specifications.
The company’s near-term framing is a service robot for showrooms: greet visitors and help demonstrate vehicles. Executive vice-president Stella Li has described a path toward a few units per store as sales assistants while stressing that robots will not replace human rapport. Secondary reports nickname the machine Xiao Di and cite figures around 1.61 m, 58.5 kg and 31 degrees of freedom from Di Space materials — treat those as reported until BYD publishes a fixed datasheet.
Just as important is what BYD denied. Circulating claims of a “Yao-Shun-Yu” programme, large factory trial fleets and multi-thousand internal targets were rejected in coverage of the company’s fact-check. Buyers should not confuse rumour volumes with the August demo.
RobotVersus does not yet list BYD as a manufacturer. The closest catalogue peer for the EV-maker-into-humanoid pattern is Tesla and its Optimus programme. Until Xiao Di has sourced specs on a catalogue page, treat August as a commercial-theatre milestone rather than a verified industrial platform.
