On 5 August 2026 Avnet and Weston Robot said they had built an AI-powered autonomous inspection platform for factories and other industrial sites. The pitch is edge compute on a mobile robot: see the plant, flag problems, and keep walking when the cloud link is weak.
The stack runs on AMD Ryzen AI Embedded processors and claims up to 50 TOPS for on-device inference. The companies list visual and thermal inspection, anomaly spotting, PPE checks, intrusion detection, and 3D LiDAR SLAM for maps and routes in GPS-denied halls, tunnels, and yards. Avnet supplies the compute path; Weston Robot brings the robotics integration.
Neither Avnet nor Weston Robot appears here as a robot OEM. The Robot Report describes Avnet’s computer as a backpack on a Unitree quadruped, so the relevant links are Unitree and the Go2 — an edge-AI payload story on a known base, not a new Unitree model launch.
